CVG Breaks Local Passenger Records May, June, & July
August 28, 2018 ― The Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport (CVG) broke a recent all-time local passenger record in July. This summer the airport served the most local passengers in its 71-year history breaking records in May, June and July.The three month total of 1.2M passengers surpassed the previous record of 1M in May, June, July of 2000. “New destinations, additional frequencies and lower airfares are all contributing to the overall growth we’re seeing,” said Candace McGraw, chief executive officer, CVG. “We thank the community for embracing the positive change and choosing to fly with CVG. Our mission is to make travel through CVG an unforgettably positive experience for all of our passengers.”The number of available aircraft seats has increased 13 percent this year boosting CVG as one of the fastest growing airports in the U.S. Additional flights to nine domestic destinations have been announced or launched this year, including San Jose, San Antonio, Austin, Sarasota, Phoenix, Charleston, Raleigh/Durham, Denver and Jacksonville. Three international destinations were added in the last few months including Cozumel, Mexico; Grand Bahama Island; and low-cost service to Europe with WOW air.Cargo volume continues to drive significant growth at CVG. In July, cargo tonnage grew by more than 13 percent with 101,056 tons. Year to date cargo volume is up 28% over 2017. Roadway Construction Begins at CVG to Build for Future
August 13, 2018 – Construction kicks off this week at the Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport (CVG) which will create a new entrance road and improved access to the airport.This summer, and continuing through third quarter 2019, roadway construction at CVG will make way for a new entrance to the Main Terminal and connection to the consolidated rental car facility to be built late 2019-2021, and scheduled to open late 2021.Construction elements include: Elimination of the wide, sweeping loop that supported former Terminals 1 and 2 Partial demo to the Terminal Garage to make way for the new entrance road Traffic flow changes on the arrival/pick-up and departure/drop-off ramps New entrance plaza to Terminal Garage“CVG is experiencing record-breaking growth, and with more passengers coming through our front door this project will improve access to the airport and elevate the passenger experience,” said Candace McGraw, chief executive officer, CVG. “The updates and new rental car facility will also eliminate emissions from shuttles circling back and forth from rental car lots and the Terminal and continue to make CVG competitive.”CVG encourages travelers to visit [cvgairport.com](http://www.cvgairport.com/about/next/Build) to learn what areas will be impacted. CVG Continues to Be Region's Low-Fare Leader
July 18, 2018 — The U.S. Department of Transportation released its average airfare ranking report for first quarter 2018. The Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport (CVG) is once again the lowest fare airport in the region.Below is a summary of the results related to CVG:CVG average fare ranked #73 compared to #35 in 1Q 2017, an improvement of 38 positions.CVG average fare of $328 decreased 16% compared to $391 in 1Q 2017. National average fares decreased only 3.7%. New Restaurants Now Open
July 9, 2018 — New restaurants are greeting travelers at CVG this summer. Global restaurateur HMSHost opened two new food & beverage options for the busy summer travel season — Hop & Cask in Concourse B by Gate 17, as well as Blaze Pizza in Concourse A. Hop & Cask celebrates the region’s distilling heritage with a selection of bourbons and whiskeys, as well as local, regional, and national brewery offerings on tap and in bottles. CVG Sets Local Passenger Record
June 26, 2018 — CVG set an all-time local passenger record in May. Traffic was up 20 percent year-over-year with more than 387,926 originating passengers, surpassing the previous record of 378,549 in June 2000.“New destinations, additional frequencies and lower airfares are all contributing to the overall growth we’re seeing at CVG,” said Candace McGraw, chief executive officer, CVG. “We’re embracing what’s next for our local travelers, and are pleased to offer the most nonstop destinations and lowest fares in the region.”Eight domestic destinations were recently added, including San Jose, San Antonio, Austin, Sarasota, Phoenix, Charleston, Raleigh/Durham and Jacksonville. Frontier Celebrates 5 Years at CVG
May 17, 2018 — Today marks the 5th anniversary of Frontier Airlines at CVG. To celebrate Frontier is giving away two roundtrip ticket vouchers to five lucky passengers on each of its 11 flights today. Other festivities will be taking place at the gates throughout the day. “Our commitment to the Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky community runs deep. WOW Air Ready for Takeoff

The new service will open up a gateway for local travelers to explore Europe, and create new opportunities for European travelers to discover the Cincinnati region. Representing publications from Iceland, France, United Kingdom, The Netherlands, Belgium, Germany and Ireland, the visiting journalists will immerse themselves in a two-day experience that showcases Cincinnati’s arts, culture, cuisine and personality.“As the front door to our region, we couldn’t be more excited to give WOW and journalists from around the world a warm welcome and an unforgettable first impression of our region,” said Candace McGraw, CEO of the Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport (CVG). “This new international service at CVG will have a considerable impact on attracting new international visitors and businesses, and we want to take advantage of every opportunity to tell our story to those future visitors.”Journalists will be hosted by a team representing the region’s travel and tourism industry — CVG, Source Cincinnati, the Cincinnati USA Convention & Visitors Bureau, meetNKY and the Cincinnati USA Regional Tourism Network. WOW air gives travelers access to dozens of new destinations, from Amsterdam and Barcelona to Stockholm and Warsaw.The service will increase to five times per week between June and September. The low-cost airline will offer one-way flights to Iceland starting at $99 and other international destinations for $149. Connecting service will be available to London, Paris, Amsterdam, Berlin, Frankfurt, Dublin and Copenhagen. American Relocates to Concourse B
p.p1 {margin: 0.0px 0.0px 0.0px 0.0px; font: 16.0px Helvetica}May 7, 2018 – American Airlines is relocating its CVG operations to Concourse B effective, Tuesday morning, May 8 with all American flights using Concourse B gates 18, 20, 22, 24 and 26.Ticket counter check-in and baggage service locations in the main terminal will not be impacted.American serves more than 1.1 million passengers annually at CVG with more than 230 weekly flights and 34 peak-day departures. American serves eight destinations from CVG including Charlotte, Washington D.C. (DCA), Dallas (DFW), New York (JFK), New York (LGA), Miami, Chicago (ORD) and Philadelphia.“American’s move to Concourse B is taking place to support a major ramp rehabilitation project on all Concourse A gates over the next two years,” said Candace McGraw, chief executive officer, CVG. “Both American and Delta have been good partners supporting this relocation to enable the construction project.”All carriers remaining in Concourse A will experience temporary gate location changes throughout the two-year ramp rehabilitation project.
