Final Honor Flight of 2015 Features 72 Veterans
October 19, 2015 — Seventy-two Tristate veterans and their guardians will take an Honor Flight from CVG tomorrow, destined for Washington D.C. to see memorials and participate in ceremonies that honor their service to their country.Honor Flight Tri-State is a non-profit organization whose sole mission is to fly veterans 65 and older who served stateside or overseas to their memorials in Washington, D.C. at no cost. The oldest veterans will fly first. All veterans traveling on this flight are from the Greater Cincinnati, Northern Kentucky and South Eastern Indiana area.The October 20 flight will include visits to the World War II Memorial, Korean War Memorial, Vietnam War Memorial, Iwo Jima, Tomb of the Unknown Soldier and the US Air Force Memorial and other Washington D.C. sights.“Our goal is to honor as many veterans as we can before it is too late,” said Cheryl Popp, director of Honor Flight Tri-State. "If you want to meet the veterans -- please come to the airport at 6 a.m. or be among the many locals welcoming them home at 10:15 pm the same night!"The October 20 flight will depart CVG at 8 a.m. It will be preceded by bag pipes from the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Department, an Honor Guard ceremony and other special remarks in the area near the east end of the security checkpoint, all beginning about 6 a.m.“We are honored to play a part in an event that recognizes true national heroes who bravely served our country,” said Wm.T. (Bill) Robinson III, Kenton County Airport Board Chairman.A total of 150 people will be on the American Airlines chartered flight. Each veteran is accompanied by a guardian, 60% of the guardians are family and 40% of the guardians are volunteers.Honor Flight Tri-State makes a total of five trips to Washington, D.C. per year. Allegiant Expands Winter & Spring Schedule
Flights to Austin & New Orleans to Operate Year-RoundSept. 15, 2015 — Allegiant is expanding its winter and spring flight schedule from CVG, offering more flights and more destinations for low-cost travel.Allegiant will open a new base of operations at CVG on January 6 and by February will operate 40 weekly flights to more nonstop destinations than any other low-cost carrier at the airport. This expanded schedule represents a 54% increase in flights compared the same period in 2015.“We’re excited to offer Cincinnati and northern Kentucky travelers these enhanced travel options for winter and spring travel,” said Eric Fletcher, Allegiant Travel Company manager of airports. “With the upcoming launch of our base of operations at CVG and these schedule enhancements, we look forward to continued success and growth in the region.”Notable service expansions include:• The return and upgrade of nonstop flights to Austin and New Orleans to be operated year-round• An early return of seasonal flights to Savannah / Hilton Head beginning Feb. 18• Nonstop service to Las Vegas increasing from two to five weekly flights“We are excited that the strong demand from our region to these markets prompted Allegiant to bring these flights back earlier in the year and now establish them as year around destinations,” said Candace McGraw, Cincinnati / Northern Kentucky International Airport CEO.The flights will be operated with a mix of Boeing 757, MD-80 and Airbus A320 family aircraft. Uber Cleared for Landing at CVG
Latest Ride-Sharing Company to Secure Operating AgreementSept. 3, 2015 — CVG today announced Uber Technologies, Inc., a Transportation Networking Company, finalized an agreement authorizing Uber to operate at the airport under their new ridesharing policy. Uber could begin pick-ups as early as 8 a.m. today. CVG joins a growing number of airports across the country to recognize formally the benefits of offering travelers a new way to grab a ride through their smartphone. With millions of travelers passing through CVG each year, additional transportation options can help to improve the passenger experience. Graeter’s to Add Storefront Location
August 20, 2015 — Graeter’s will soon open a fully remodeled store at CVG. The Graeter’s store, to be located near gate A-13, will offer hand dipped ice cream, pastries, candies, milkshakes and sundaes.Passengers will be able to sit and enjoy a sweet treat in the approximately 650 square foot location. The new location is scheduled to open in Spring 2016. Graeter’s opened a kiosk in Concourse A in April 2013 and added an additional kiosk in Concourse B in December 2013."As the front door to the community, we strive to offer our passengers to best the region has to offer. Allegiant to Establish Base of Operation
July 23, 2015 — CVG and Allegiant Travel Company have announced their plans to establish a base of operation beginning Jan. 6, 2016. Allegiant will base up to three 156-seat Airbus 319 aircraft at CVG, creating jobs for pilots, flight attendants and airport service personnel.When it opens in January, Cincinnati will become Allegiant’s 14th aircraft base and is estimated to employ over 90 flight crew and airport personnel locally. CVG is the largest origination market in Allegiant’s network and a Top 5 market in their overall airport system.Along with the base announcement, Allegiant is also adding five additional weekly flights to its fall and winter schedule, increasing frequencies to some of its most popular destinations from CVG. This includes extended service to Savannah/Hilton Head through November 29. Allegiant is adding flights to Las Vegas, Ft. Lauderdale and Tampa Bay/St.Pete.“As Allegiant’s fastest growing markets in their 16 year history, we are thrilled Allegiant is expanding their capacity to establish a base of operation,” said Wm.T. Lyft Begins Operations at CVG
July 22, 2015 – Lyft, a transportation network company, is now operating at CVG. CVG Offers Hometown Welcome for All-Star Game
July 9, 2015 – CVG, in conjunction with community partners, is rolling out the welcome mat for passengers visiting the Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky region for the All-Star Game.“As the front door to the community, we want our passengers to feel welcome and experience the excitement in the region for the All-Star Game,” said Candace McGraw, chief executive officer, Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky Airport. “Hosting the All-Star Game in Cincinnati is an honor and we want to show our hometown pride.”“On behalf of the Kenton County Airport Board, I would like to welcome passengers to the Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky region for the 86th MLB All-Star Game,” said Wm. On Friday, July 10 from 3 – 5 p.m., passengers will be entertained by the MadCap Puppets, Pones, Inc., Cincy Balia Dance, University of Cincinnati College Conservatory of Music Strolling Violinist and the Voices of Indiana Choir.Passengers will also find one of the 20 moustache benches from around city located on the ticketing level in the terminal.
