CVG Installs Electric Vehicle Charging Stations
Sept. 2, 2014 — CVG has installed electric vehicle charging stations in the terminal garage and ValuPark lot.There are four stations in the terminal garage located at D30. There are two stations located in Row 1 West side of the CVG ValuPark lot.“CVG strives to create a positive and efficient customer service experience for our passengers,” said Candace McGraw, chief executive officer. “This is part of CVG's commitment to sustainability and environmental stewardship.”The charging stations are free for customers who pay to park. CVG selected Level 1 stations to meet the needs of our airport customers. The stations will provide a full charge to most plug-in vehicles in about eight hours.CVG offers three different parking options: CVG ValuPark, Terminal Garage and Curbside Valet. Passenger & Cargo Growth Continues to Build
Five Consecutive Months of Total Enplanement GrowthMay 28, 2014 — CVG continues to see increases in passenger enplanements and cargo tonnage. Positive trends in local enplanements and cargo tonnage are the largest and most consistent they have been since 2007.Based on April 2014 statistics, total enplanements at CVG improved year-over-year by 2.7 % marking the fifth consecutive month of passenger growth at the region’s largest commercial airport. Improvements in CVG passenger traffic started in March 2013 with the announcement of new low cost carrier service by Frontier Airlines to Denver. Since then, Frontier has doubled the number of flights to Denver, added service to Trenton, New Jersey and just this week announced new service to Washington, D.C. Dulles International Airport. CVG also secured new low cost service from Allegiant Airlines with non-stop service to Fort Myers/Punta Gorda, Tampa Bay/St. Pete, Orlando/Sanford and Myrtle Beach.“Three years ago, we set out on a mission to diversify the carrier offering available from CVG with the objective of growing our customer base and making affordable pricing options available.” said Candace McGraw, chief executive officer, CVG. “We are now seeing the positive results of those efforts.”A number of airlines are experiencing passenger growth. Based on year-over-year numbers, American Airlines enplanements grew by 13.8%; United Airlines by 17.5%; US Airways by 5.8%; and Air Canada by 47.3%. Delta enplanement levels have also stabilized and local enplanements are improving in many of the markets they serve.Cargo continues to be an energizing force for CVG. Cargo tonnage is growing with the expansion of the DHL hub. Cargo has improved 9.1% year over year. Monthly tonnage volumes have increased year-over-year in 46 of the last 48 months and since 2010, tonnage has increased 130%. This growth comes as a result of more than $105 million in capital development by DHL over the last several years that employ more than 2,300 staff at their CVG hub. “The evolution of CVG into a multi-carrier, multi-use airport operation with focus on serving the tri-state community continues to show great progress”, said Wm. T. (Bill) Robinson III, Kenton County Airport Board Chairman. “Momentum is a powerful ingredient when dealing with positive economic development initiatives. The Cincinnati / Northern Kentucky region certainly has a great story to tell and people are listening. The airports’ role in the overall growth and economic vitality of our region cannot be overstated.” CVG now provides service to 53 non-stop destinations and averages more than 170 peak day departures operated by 10 different carriers, more than any other airport in the tri-state region. 3rd Honor Flight of 2014 Features 72 Veterans
August 18, 2014 — Seventy-two Tri-State veterans and their guardians will take an Honor Flight from Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport (CVG) tomorrow, destined for Washington D.C. to see memorials and participate in ceremonies that honor their service to their country.Honor Flight Tri-State is a non-profit organization whose sole mission is to fly World War II and Korean War veterans to their memorials in Washington, D.C. at no cost. All veterans traveling on this flight are from the Greater Cincinnati, Northern Kentucky and South Eastern Indiana area.The August 19 flight will include visits to the World War II Memorial, Korean War Memorial, Vietnam War Memorial, Iwo Jima, Tomb of the Unknown Soldier and the US Air Force Memorial and other Washington D.C. sights.“Our goal is to honor as many veterans as we can before it is too late,” said Cheryl Popp, director of Honor Flight Tri-State. "If you want to meet the veterans -- please come to the airport at 6 a.m. or be among the many locals welcoming them home at 10:15 pm the same night!"The August 19 flight will depart CVG at 8 a.m. It will be preceded by bag pipes from the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Department, an Honor Guard ceremony and other special remarks in the area near the east end of the security checkpoint, all beginning about 6 a.m. “We are honored to play a part in an event that recognizes true national heroes who bravely served our country,” said Wm.T. (Bill) Robinson III, Kenton County Airport Board Chairman.A total of 149 people will be on the US Airways chartered flight. Each veteran is accompanied by a guardian, 60% of the guardians are family and 40% of the guardians are volunteers. Allegiant Adding Service to Las Vegas
Twice Weekly Service Starts in DecemberAugust 12, 2014 – Allegiant Travel Company announces new nonstop service from CVG to Las Vegas (LAS). Allegiant will offer flights from CVG to LAS on Thursdays and Sundays starting December 18. Allegiant is offering an $81 one-way intro fare which must be booked by August 19, 2014 for travel by February 10, 2015.Las Vegas will be the seventh market served by Allegiant from CVG. Allegiant offers flights to Orlando (SFB), Punta Gorda (PGD), and Tampa Bay/St.Pete (PIE) and seasonal service to Myrtle Beach (MYR). Service to Fort Lauderdale (FLL) starts on October 9 and service to Phoenix – Mesa (AZA) starts on November 14. “We are thrilled Allegiant is expanding their service from CVG to Las Vegas.
