CVG Hosting Outreach Event for Local Businesses

09/17/2013

Sept. 17, 2013 — The Kenton County Airport Board will host Connect at CVG on Friday, Oct. 4. This outreach and networking event helps facilitate participation of Disadvantaged Business Enterprises and other diverse businesses in contractual opportunities at the airport.

Board staff will provide an overview of its procurement process and upcoming opportunities for businesses, contractors and suppliers to do business at CVG. This will also provide CVG’s valued customers - airlines, concessions, tenants, service providers — a unique opportunity to connect with diverse businesses and suppliers.

The event, which will run from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. at 77 Comair Blvd. in Erlanger, will also include a panel discussion with representatives from the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet, Ohio Department of Transportation, and Indiana Department of Transportation on the process of how businesses may become DBE-certified in these states.

Disadvantaged Business Enterprise is a state-certified, for-profit small business that is at least 51 percent owned by individuals who are both socially and economically disadvantaged. U.S. Department of Transportation regulations require transportation agencies that receive financial assistance from the department to establish goals for the participation of DBEs in the agency’s contracted work.

“This event is part of CVG’s ongoing commitment to diversity and increasing the number of minority-owned businesses that participate in our procurement process,” said Candace McGraw, the airport’s chief executive officer. “We believe bringing people of diverse backgrounds into the CVG family will pay off with fresh ideas that make the airport a stronger member of this community.”

Those who are interested in participating in the event should register at CVGairport.com/Event. Those with questions should contact the airport board’s DBE Liaison, Joe Huber, at jhuber@cvgairport.com.
