CVG Receives Air Cargo Excellence Award

03/11/2014

March 11, 2014 — CVG was recognized with the Air Cargo Award of Excellence last night at the IATA World Cargo Symposium.

CVG was awarded in the category of Airports North American 400,000 – 999,999 tons for achieving a superior overall rating as determined by the readers of Air Cargo World magazine. The awards were held in conjunction with the IATA World Cargo Symposium in Los Angeles.

“This is a great honor for CVG,” said Candace McGraw, CVG, CEO. “We are pleased to receive this recognition and are grateful to host a DHL super hub at CVG. Without our partnerships with DHL and with FedEx, this award would not be possible,” added Wm. T. (Bill) Robinson III, incoming chairman of the Kenton County Airport Board.

CVG maintains four runways and 7,500 acres of property. On average, DHL flies 35 – 40 flights a night. In 2013, Southern Air Cargo moved their headquarters to CVG.  Also in 2013, DHL completed a $105 million expansion, which lead to an expanded workforce of 2,300 employees.

DHL experienced double-digit growth at CVG in 2013.  The Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport is ranked 10th in the United States for cargo.
