Allegiant Adding Service to Jacksonville
Service Begins Feb. 12Nov. 12, 2014 — Allegiant Travel Company announces new service from the CVG to Jacksonville, FL (JAX). Passengers can book travel for as low as $65 one-way.“As one of Allegiant’s fastest growing markets in their 15 year history, we are thrilled Allegiant is continuing to expand at CVG,” said Candace McGraw, chief executive officer, Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport. “Our passengers desire vacation centered destinations. Jacksonville will be the eighth market served by Allegiant at CVG.” “Allegiant couldn’t be more excited to offer Cincinnati residents yet another destination for CVG travelers,” said Jude Bricker, Allegiant Travel Company senior vice president of planning. “Florida’s ‘First Coast’ has long been a popular destination among local travelers, and we are pleased to offer our low fares and convenient non-stop travel to yet another prime leisure destination."Starting February 12, passengers can travel to Jacksonville year round twice per week on Thursday and Sunday. Allegiant will operate the 177 seat A320 and the 166 seat MD 80. Tickets and vacation packages can be booked through Allegiant.com.“Allegiant started service from CVG in February 2014, with service two times per week to Orlando and Tampa Bay,” said Wm.T. Final Honor Flight of Season Features 72 Veterans
Oct. 20, 2014 — Seventy-two Tristate veterans and their guardians will take an Honor Flight from CVG tomorrow, destined for Washington D.C. to see memorials and participate in ceremonies that honor their service to their country.Honor Flight Tri-State is a non-profit organization whose sole mission is to fly World War II and Korean War veterans to their memorials in Washington, D.C. at no cost. All veterans traveling on this flight are from the Greater Cincinnati, Northern Kentucky and South Eastern Indiana area.The October 21 flight will include visits to the World War II Memorial, Korean War Memorial, Vietnam War Memorial, Iwo Jima, Tomb of the Unknown Soldier and the US Air Force Memorial and other Washington D.C. sights.“Our goal is to honor as many veterans as we can before it is too late,” said Cheryl Popp, director of Honor Flight Tri-State. "If you want to meet the veterans — please come to the airport at 6 a.m. or be among the many locals welcoming them home at 10:15 pm the same night!The flight will depart at 8 a.m. It will be preceded by bag pipes from the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Dept., an Honor Guard ceremony and other special remarks in the area near the east end of the security checkpoint, all beginning about 6 a.m.“We are honored to play a part in an event that recognizes true national heroes who bravely served our country,” said Wm.T. (Bill) Robinson III, Kenton County Airport Board Chairman.A total of 149 people will be on the US Airways chartered flight. Each veteran is accompanied by a guardian, 60% of the guardians are family and 40% of the guardians are volunteers.The next Honor Flight will be in April 2015. Allegiant Hosting Bengals Fan Contest
Winner receives two round trip tickets and hotel on a flight to Fort LauderdaleOct. 3, 2014 — Allegiant launches their inaugural service to Fort Lauderdale (FLL) on Thursday, Oct. 9. As part of the inaugural celebration, Allegiant will host a Best Dressed Bengals Fan Contest at CVG. The winner will receive two-round trip tickets on the flight to FLL and a hotel stay at the Comfort Suites Airport & Cruise Port from Oct. 10–13.Participants must register at cvgairport.com/event or in person at CVG on Oct. 9. CVG to Conduct Fire Training
Sept. 23, 2014 — CVG will conduct mandatory fire training from 9 to 11 p.m. Sept 23 – 25 as part of its mission to keep passengers safe.The training will take place on site at the Fire Department Training Facility on South Airfield Road. If you see smoke or fire near the airport during these hours, do not be alarmed.Airports are required to conduct fire training twice annually, as regulated by the FAA. For safety reasons the training is not open to the public or to the media.Read more
